Why is cryogonadotropin alpha used?
Cryogonadotropin alfa is used to treat certain cases of infertility in women and to help them become pregnant.
Do not take cryogonadotropin alpha:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you suffer from thyroid or adrenal gland diseases.
- If you have a tumor in the brain or pituitary gland.
- The ovaries have stopped producing eggs (primary ovarian failure).
- If you have enlarged ovaries or ovarian cysts.
- If you are experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding.
- If you suffer from blood clotting problems or blood clots.
- If you are suffering from tumors in the female organs.
- If you have had an ectopic pregnancy in the past three months.
- If you suffer from genital abnormalities that are incompatible with pregnancy.
- If you are pregnant.
- If you are a woman going through menopause.
Warnings and precautions:
- This drug may increase the likelihood of ovarian enlargement (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome), which may lead to serious problems.
- This drug may increase the chances of conceiving more than one fetus.
- Miscarriage may occur when using this medication for pregnancy.
- Ectopic pregnancy may occur with the use of this drug.
- If you have or have ever had blood clotting problems or blood clots, or if you have family members who have these problems, this drug may increase the likelihood of them occurring.
- This medication may interfere with pregnancy test results for up to 10 days. A false positive result may occur.
- Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience a rash, hives, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, or peeling of the skin, tightness in the chest or throat, difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking, unusual hoarseness, or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Widespread side effects:
- Pain and swelling at the injection site
- headache
- Upset stomach, vomiting, or nausea
- Ovarian enlargement
- Other medications and cryogonadotropin alfa
- No significant medical interactions have been reported with this drug.
How to take cryogonadotropin alpha:
- This property is for adults only.
- Take this medication as directed by your doctor.
- The usual recommended dose is a single 250 microgram injection administered subcutaneously.
How to store cryogonadotropin alpha:
- Store in the original container in a refrigerator at 35 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 8 degrees Celsius).
- It can be stored at room temperature below 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius), but discard any unused portion after 30 days.
- Keep this medicine away from light.
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.
